You may have chosen a spot for riding the waves somewhere around the world, but it is not enough. When it comes to travelling, especially on surfing sites, it is important to keep everything in proper order. That means making sure that you book in an accommodation that is comfortable and clean and provides good food. You also have to make sure that you will be guided well along the way, from the arrival area of the airport to the time you fly back home. If you want to experience surfing but do not have a surfboard yet, make sure that the place you are staying allows you to rent one. Otherwise, make sure that they provide logistics for your board. Other available options include arranging with travel agents so you can attend surfing tours with fellow enthusiasts and locals to guide you on the best spots. If you are a beginner (or even a pro who wants to push himself to the next level), there are options you can choose from.

One of which is a surf camp that offers basic and advanced trainings on how to get on the board. The packages vary by location, so it is important to choose well according to the budget and preferences. You will be taught in groups by an instructor, and the lessons include: spot checking (checking for waves and potential spots) and basic methods in riding the board. For intermediate level surfers, advanced lessons are available. Some other services to take advantage of in the camp include meals, board rental and transport, surfing wear, and sunblock. But take note, these may or may not provided in all camps, so make sure that you bring your own things.

Do travel agents offer help when it comes to finding the best spots?

If there is one person you can trust in helping you find the beach to do your thing, it is your agent. A lot of them provide competitive packages that include accommodation, board rental, lessons (if you want to), and surfing tours with enthusiasts and local guides. So, never think twice to call them up if you need help.

Surfing has become a popular sport today. Gone are the days when it is just a hobby chosen by the brave few; it is now a mainstream activity, especially during summer. If you want to join this kind of sport, then you have to remember the three important things that you need to put in your shopping cart: surfboard, leash, and wax.

The surfing board, of course, is the number one requirement and the leash ties it to your ankle. The role of the wax is to prevent you from slipping off. But one thing you must know about is that there are various types of waxes available. What you will be using depends on the temperature of the water where you intend to challenge the waves.

Below are the kinds of wax for your surfboards and when it is applicable to use:

Basecoat – This is applied to newly bought boards so that the other temperature-dependent wax will stick more effectively.

Tropical – The hardest type and commonly used when the water exceeds 75 degrees Fahrenheit, typically in tropical countries like Hawaii.

Warm – This type is for ordinary temperature, around 66 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit, and is a little softer compared to the tropical kind.

Cool – The condition of the water must be 58 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit when using this one. Unlike the others, this one contains more softener.

Cold – Use this one if the coldness of the water falls below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. And the more it becomes colder, the more that you have to apply this one to your surf boards.

Never forget the different classification of waxes above so that you will not slip off from your surfboards and avoid accidents. If you are not so sure about the current water temperature, then ask assistance from any nearby surfing store or from others who are already surfing in the waters.

You cannot underestimate the wonderful benefits that riding the waves brings. When you look at people trying to keep their balance against the massive tides, it is interesting to know what motivates them. Ask one, and you will absorb the passion of a person whose life has been dedicated to harnessing the energy of the ocean. The pleasure of riding waves offers countless health advantages that hooked surfers to commit their lives to this enjoyable recreation.

Not surprisingly, surfing matters to them because it improves cardiovascular fitness. Paddling increases strength and muscle tones. It enhances one’s sense of balance and focus. Catching the waves while twisting your board will strengthen your back. No wonder surfers have great body shape. This healthy habit definitely keeps them fit. There are those who say that it reduces stress, and surfers are highly flexible to pressure. Well, when you see how a surfboarder deals with rising water, you might as well agree. It is not easy to manoeuvre through the ridges. Your mind and body should work together to make better connections with nature knowing that the playground is not that predictable.

So mentally, you are engaged and that requires incredible sense of confidence
and presence of mind. You have to keep things in order to stay afloat and ride along with ease. The ability to keep your focus enables you to take control over the daunting surge of water. It will make you feel great. Having said that, surfing does not only offer physical benefits, but mental health advantages as well.

This is an activity that demands patience though. And you will be put to the test. When you pass, the whole effort is worth it. When you get the hang out of it, without a doubt, you will be forever be hooked into this healthy hobby.

Just like any other retail establishment, starting an enterprise that sells equipment to individuals who enjoy riding the waves takes certain procedures to ensure that the shop will be up and running smoothly. One of the services includes board production and maintenance services and other products such as apparel and accessories. If you are planning on opening this kind of company, here are some of the services that you can offer to your clients:

Board Production

There are many suppliers out there in the market that you can affiliate with or, if you have extensive knowledge making these crafts, then by all means produce them yourself for authenticity. Make sure to look for materials that are sturdy and van last for a very long time. Engineering is an important aspect when creating these rafts. The overall design should be conducive for riding but should also be able to deflect the waves’ constant changes in height and speed. It is important to have boards ready in your boutique for consumers take home easily, but also stock those items that can be personalised as there are those who prefer to have theirs custom made. By having a more personalised service, you are encouraging trust among your clients.

Maintenance and Repair

Your shop should also provide management and improvement services for surf boards that have, at some point, obtained damage. Some of the most basic services include waxing, patching of shreds and corrosion, removal of certain compounds such as fungi and algae. This can be a good source of income especially if you are in a seaside community where the sport is popular among locals and tourists alike.

Accessory Items

There are other essentials that surfers use when out with in the water, and these include their swimwear. This is why this industry has also flourished because of the variety of apparel that individuals can wear when they are out in the waves. Flip flops, shirts, shorts and even wet suits can reap in huge revenues. In fact, aside from the boards, these items are ones that can generate the most income, making them good investment.

Of course, you also need to properly market your establishment to let people know of your business as well as to create hype.

What better way to create a calm and comfortable feel in your sleeping chamber than by incorporating a beach theme? There are several ways to make your bedroom a part of your seaside haunts, so get started on this project now with these tips.

Choose the Right Colour

Colours often make or break an area, and beach-inspired rooms are no different. There are lots of ways to use hues in your themed bedroom. For one, if you want to evoke the feel of ships and sailors, then bring in red, white and blues. If you like to have a tropical sunshine feel on the other hand, then choose vibrant pastels and other bright colours.

Select the Best Furniture

The right pieces of furniture for your sleeping chamber should incorporate the elements of the seashore environment. Hence, choose polished driftwood, bamboo, wicker, and teal accessories that can enhance that beach-like feeling. Also remember that light shades of wood work are best for this type of decorating project.

Pick Out Accessories

Pull the look together with great accessories to fit the hues and furniture sets of your space. You can arrange seashells, carved ocean animals, anchors, and tropical posters around the room to surely give your area a finishing touch.

So, start decorating a beach-inspired room today!

The thrill of the ride is what experienced surfers seek in a huge wave. To catch these water giants, you have to learn how to push yourself to the extreme by venturing out into seas that are unfamiliar and threatening, but challenging and exhilarating.

Some of the most known places that offer big waves and dangerous conditions have earned nicknames from expert surfers due to “signature” waves in that area. For example, “Jaws” in Maui, Hawaii, has earned its moniker because the waves are extremely intense, particularly during a storm swell. The place is popular for tow-surfing, but even professionals think twice before trying to surf out there.

Another famous location is Maverick’s in Half Moon Bay, North California. It became famous among wave riders in the 1990s and has become one of the top places for an exclusive surfing competition anticipated all over the world. This is a haven for big wave surfers during the winter.

Whatever reasons these big wave riders have in conquering these raging ‘mountains’ of the sea remains unknown to most. But watching them in action out in those waters will give you a totally awesome experience.

As a newbie to surfing, here are some pointers on how you can find an ideal spot to learn the ropes before hitting the big waves.

Some people might feel intimidated to try out their fresh skills out in the open where all the other hard core surfers and fans of the activity can watch. That is why it is advisable for you to find a not so crowded area where you will not be a hindrance to other surfers, but where you can still catch nice waves. Also, keep in mind that you should choose a location where it is not rocky, unless you want to end up getting into an accident. Big waves are also a no-no until you have mastered your skills.

Your best choice is to bring your board to point breaks where there are less people and to slow mushy turfs where it is sandy below. Keep in mind to never go out into the water alone and without a lifeguard on duty. You can also ask your friends who are expert wave catchers or your personal surf guru to paddle you to safe practice spots.

You will be exposed to the sun for long hours when you surf, so your skin absorbs a lot of UV rays every time you hit the waves. You can prevent early aging and extreme damage to your skin by using the right type of sunscreen. This lotion has special chemicals that ward off ultra violet light using a protective “shield”.

You should only use sunscreen that has SPF or Sun Protection Factor and one that is broad-spectrum. This means that it will protect you from both the burning and aging effects of the sun. To avoid experiencing any skin problems, check the type of lotion that you are getting. There are now different forms of sunscreen such as gels, sprays, creams, and so on. There are also products for those who might have allergies or skin irritations.

Make sure to apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going under the sun. All parts of your body that will be exposed should be covered and you should reapply the lotion every two hours. More sunscreen should be applied if it is windy, you are sweating, or you are going swimming.
